Before people settle in with family and friends they like to make sure they have all the right supplies for a good Christmas.
"I have some family in town and I'm trying to get the last minute stuff that we need," said Cheryl Stenzel, shopping at a Dahl's.
Stenzel's one of many shopping at grocery stores across the metro.
"I'm looking for potatoes, sweet potatoes, and some fruit," she said.
Supermarkets see a big rush since almost every store closes Christmas Day.
"We opened at six o'clock today and we've been pretty busy ever since," said Pat Childress, a Dahl's manager.
According to Childress, their popular last minute items include baked goods, meats and fruits.
