Two Ankeny teenagers took a joyride with BB guns.
They ended up getting arrested and admitted to shooting at around 35 cars Monday afternoon.
17-year-old Sergio Alvarez and 16-year-old Bryon McKinley were taken to juvenile court on criminal mischief charges.
They bought the BB gun just hours before the arrest. They got caught because a neighbor in the area of SW Cherry Street heard the shots and saw a car with no license plates.
They called police, and police were able to track the car. They're thankful someone saw it.
"A lot of times these are random and unless we have a witness or someone calling in with a good tip they're hard to solve at times, said Lt. Ben Bowersox.
20 people have come forward from all over town to say their car was damaged and even one house window got shot. If you had damage, give Ankeny P.D. a call at 515-286-3333.
