The citizens had their say and it was heard loud and clear by the Ankeny City Council.

Monday night Ankeny council members decided to terminate their agreement with Wild Rose entertainment.

Wild Rose want to build a new casino off Interstate 35, adding 600 jobs and $8 Million in property tax revenue.

The city originally signed a memo of understanding. But this past Friday, Wild Rose said the city could opt out because of the growing opposition in the community.

It's not the end of the road yet, though.

"I'm encouraged to keeping going. Not because of what they did or didn't vote on, but because I believe in our project. I'm proud of our project. I think once we unveil it everyone will see what we're doing with that whole area out there," said Wild Rose spokesman Tom Timmons.

Wild Rose will continue to work with city procedures to try and push a casino through. That means they need to get the land re–zoned. Eventually the State Gaming Commission has to grant them a license.
