Jason Rantala - ABC5 News Des Moines, IA

Jason Rantala

Jason joined ABC5 in February 2012 as the morning reporter/photographer, after about a year at the NBC affiliate in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and two internships at KARE 11 in Minneapolis.

He graduated from the University of Minnesota and majored in Broadcast Journalism.  It was there that he covered Gopher sports for Radio K, the campus radio station.

Growing up in the Twin Cities, Jason is a big fan of the Timberwolves, Twins, Vikings and of course…the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.

When he's not working really early in the morning, Jason enjoys both playing and following sports, listening to good music and spending time with friends and family.
