BOONE, Iowa (AP) - Federal aviation officials say one person is dead after a small plane crashed near Boone in central Iowa. The plane had just the pilot on board and was towing a seed corn company's large advertising banner when it crashed this morning near the Farm Progress Show.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Democratic Governor Chet Culver and Republican challenger Terry Branstad have agreed to meet three times for debates. Their first debate will be September 14th in Sioux City. The others will be October 7th in Cedar Rapids and October 21st in Des Moines.

OTTUMWA, Iowa. (AP) - Communities in southern Iowa continue to deal with flooding. The Des Moines Register reports that some residents blame the Corps of Engineers for allowing the Des Moines River to still flood their property near Ottumwa. Corps officials say have managed to avert major property damage so far.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) - Police in Council Bluffs are investigating back-to-back vandalism at a church. The East Side Christian Church had several windows broken out both Tuesday and last night. Nothing was reported stolen in either incident.
