Don't Text & Drive

Don't Text & Drive

Dozens of states ban drivers from using cell phones while driving. Other States allow only hands-free devices while the car is in motion. Soon, Iowa Legislatures may push for laws which would fully or partially ban cell phone use while driving.

Join Middendorf Insurance, IMT Insurance and ABC5 as we help to Build a Better Community by encouraging everyone: Don't Text & Drive.

Ask Yourself: "Can what I have to text wait?"

When drivers are texting, their risk of getting into a car crash is 23 times greater than when not texting... far surpassing the dangers of other driving distractions.

Ask Yourself: "Can what I have to text wait?"

Text messaging causes drivers to leave their lanes 10% more often.

Texting behind the wheel is said to be more dangerous than driving while under the influence of alcohol or marijuana.

Really?

Yes.

The reaction Time of Young Drivers (aged 17-24) slowed by 35% when they were writing or reading text messages while driving, compared to 21% for those under the influence of marijuana and by 12% at the legal alcohol limit.

Steering control worsened by 91% for those who were distracted by texts, compared to 35% when marijuana was involved.

Ask Yourself: "Can what I have to text wait?"

It is estimated that 3,000 people will be killed and 350,000 will be injured in cell phone related car accidents this year.

Now Ask Yourself: "What Can I do to Build a Better Community?"

Don't Text & Drive.

When Driving, wait until you reach your destination  to read or send text messages.

Make plans before you get behind the wheel. This will prevent sending and getting unnecessary texts to and from friends who can't make up their minds.

Remember important facts or funny stories instead of instantly texting them while driving. Chances are, when you reach your destination, your facts will still be important and your stories will still be funny.

Tell your friends: "Hey Friend, Don't Text and Drive. It can wait."

Don't Text & Drive. It's Safe, Smart and Simple.

By accepting personal responsibility and individually choosing NOT to text while driving, we are helping Build a Better Community for everyone.
